AN EVEN MORE affordable Uber ride is coming to parts of Asia.
How does it work? Simply by riders using their feet.
Instead of getting a driver to come all the way to your doorstep, you’ll be required walk to a pick-up spot along a common route. Before you hail a ride, the app will show you how far you might have to walk.
At the end of the journey, you’ll be dropped off at a common drop-off point with your co-passengers. Then, you’ll have to find your way to your desired destination.
Does the process sound familiar to you? Yes, it’s very much like taking a bus.

The fares for Express Pool are about 50 percent cheaper than an Uber Pool ride and up to 75 percent cheaper than an UberX ride.
Express Pool cars can take up to three riders and they can all have different destinations
However, riders who select Express Pool will be asked to wait a minute or two longer than usual to be matched with a driver.
“The idea is that during this additional time, Uber’s algorithm is blasting through hundreds of different drivers, routes, pickup and dropoff locations, and additional riders looking for the optimal match,” Mashable wrote.
Who will it appeal to most? Budget-conscious passengers who aren’t in a hurry and of course, those who enjoy putting in some “legwork” to get their ride.
The Express Pool service is currently being tested in India, where Uber operates in more than 31 cities.
Last month, Uber rolled out a smaller, uncomplicated version of the ride-hailing app, Uber Lite, to appeal to riders in India.
Uber has also added rickshaws to its fleet for short distance travel and outstation cars and rentals for longer journeys.
