Singapore Airlines today (Sep 28) announced a second new route for Australia this year with the unveiling of a Singapore – Jakarta (CGK) – Sydney and return service, to operate three times weekly from 23 November 2016.
The new service, which is subject to regulatory approval, will increase the number of weekly flights to and from Sydney from 31 to 34.
Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President South West Pacific, Tan Tiow Kor, said the creation of the new route was due to increasing demand from customers.
“Australia and Indonesia are two of Singapore Airlines’ most popular routes in our global network,” he said.
“The new Singapore – Jakarta – Sydney service is another example of our longstanding commitment to Australia and the South West Pacific region.
“We are pleased to increase the choices our customers have when it comes to flying from Sydney to Singapore and now Sydney to Jakarta,” Tan said.
The new SQ262/261 service will be operated by a two class 777-200ER aircraft with 26 Business class seats fitted with the full flat-bed seat in a 1-2-1 layout and 245 Economy class seats in a 3-3-3 layout.
The new Singapore – Jakarta – Sydney and return route will be served three times per week, departing Sydney on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 11:00 landing in Jakarta 14:35. Flights will then depart Jakarta at 15:35 and arrive in Singapore at 18:10.
Flights from Singapore will operate on Monday, Wednesday and Friday departing Singapore at 20:15, arriving in Jakarta at 21:00. Onward flights from Jakarta to Sydney will depart at 22:25 and arrive at 09:30 the next day.
Subject to regulatory approval, Singapore Airlines’ alliance partner Virgin Australia would codeshare on these new services.
