THE WORLD CUP has seen shocking losses so far: Germany (the defending champion), Argentina, Portugal, and Spain.
Previously, it was reported that almost all of the 1,300 hotels in Moscow have been booked out for the period of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
However, with major teams heading home after losing to their opponents, scores of fans, media, and support personnel have been canceling their bookings with both airlines and hotels, resulting in the supply of rooms and flight seats.
Airlines and hotels are cutting prices to try to fill the seats and beds, according to The Independent.
For example, flights to Moscow and a hotel stay including match tickets are priced at about US$928 per person – less than the price paid by fans who booked ahead.
Return flight tickets from Heathrow on LOT Polish Airlines costs a mere US$387 and twin rooms at Budapest Hotel are available at US$296 per night for two, including breakfast.

On top of that, FIFA has also released more match tickets, with good seats to boot.
Category 1 tickets, the best of the lot, for England vs. Colombia game are on sale through the FIFA website for US$243. Tickets for the quarter-final game between France and Uruguay have also appeared on sale.
Possession of a match ticket will entitle the holder to a Fan-ID, a document that replaces the need for a visa. It allows entry to Russia at any time up to 11:59pm on July 15, 2018, and permits a stay of 10 days beyond that.
So fans can even arrange for a little 10-day holiday and explore Russia after the event has wrapped up.
More flight and hotel options are expected to be freed up as the tournament progresses.
Hosted in 11 cities in Russia, the 2018 FIFA World Cup will come to a close on July 15, 2018.
