The annual Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC) is scheduled to take over Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre next week and the excitement is brewing.
From comics to cosplay, to manga and anime, and even gaming, there is something for everyone at the pop culture extravaganza.
Are you ready to enter a whole new world at Marina Bay Says Expo and Convention Centre on Sept 8 and Sept 9, 2018? Here’s what you can expect at STGCC:
A Marvel and DC Comics combo
It’s full throttle for comic fans and friends ahead at the STGCC as it will feature some of the comic powerhouses’ artists, creators, and brilliant minds.
Expected to take the stage during the convention is none other than Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding, who has worked on Marvel’s mega titles such as Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Avengers: Infinity War.
This is your chance to get up close and personal with the person who is the mastermind behind the art for some of the entertainment juggernaut’s biggest blockbusters.
If you’re camp DC Comics, fret not. DC Comics artist David Finch, the man who officiated Batman’s historic wedding, will be in town. Feel free to stalk him down and ask him everything you’ve always wanted to know about the controversial wedding which became the talk of the comic universe.
Will it be all good? Will it end up bad? Maybe he’ll even clue you in on a spoiler or two.
Also gracing us with his presence is the Eisner-nominated comic illustrator and designer Mark Brooks, known for his acclaimed work on the new Han Solo miniseries by Marvel comics. He recently unveiled his rendition of the Batmobile for the Detective Comics series.
And let’s not forget illustrator and author Joyce Chin, who has worked on both Marvel’s and DC’s comics.
Make your childhood dreams come true
Are you a fan of the animated hit television series My Little Pony? Then here’s your chance of a lifetime to meet an artist tied to the adorable current day reincarnation, Agnes Garbowska.
An artist that’s bursting at seams with talent, Garbowska is a writer, penciler, inker, painter, and a colorist.
A comic con regular, she has worked with many of the major comic book publishers illustrating such titles as DC Superhero Girls for DC Comics, My Little Pony and Jem and the Holograms for IDW Publishing, Grumpy Cat, Boo: the World’s Cutest Dog, and more.
Let’s go Lego crazy
No epic comic con is complete without a showcase of some of the world’s most prized collectibles and limited editing offerings. So it comes as no surprise that there will be a Lego corner for the hardcore brick fans.
Harry Potter fans will be pleased to know that the Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle, consisting of 6,000 Lego bricks, will be sold in limited quantity at the show.
Potterheads can even purchase their own rendition of the Chosen One and his companions with Harry Potter brickheadz x Go Brick Me collections.
If you take part in the Speed Building Challenge to assemble a full-size Voltron model with Lego bricks and win, you might just walk away with a limited-edition autographed Lego Voltron set.
Alternatively, you can walk right up to the designer of Voltron – Defender Of The Universe Leandro Tayag to say hi and get your Voltron merchandise signed.
A cosplay galore
What’s a comic con without colorful hairpieces and wigs, elaborate costumes, colored lenses and on point makeup or face paint, and weapons and accessories?

Manga and anime fans are sure to enjoy the cosplay galore at SGTCC, with Blue Submarine No.6 character designer Range Murata as well as veteran voice actresses Rin Tohsaka from Fate Series and Hayate Yagami from Nanoha Series making special appearances.
Two legends in the Japanese doujin music scene, AkaiRyusei and Tam, will also be attending SGTCC while Japanese voice actress and singer Kana Ueda will be making her Southeast Asian debut.
Got a costume to flaunt? Be sure to dress up and take part in the SGTCC “Championships of Cosplay” to stand a chance at winning a fully sponsored trip to Chicago to enter the “2019 Crown Championships of Cosplay Finals”.
