I view Best Western as the underdog of the hotel loyalty world. The Best Western Rewards program has been working hard to shed the image of “your grandparents’ hotel,” and the company has been investing heavily in modernizing the brand and reconnecting with new types of travelers — like dog owners (they have more than 1,600 pet-friendly properties in North America).
While Best Western hotels in the US range from economy to mid-level, the chain has a ton of higher-end properties globally and continues to add new high-end properties through its Premier Collection. And while the Best Western Rewards program came in at No. 8 out of 10 in our best hotel loyalty program rankings, I foresee the program rising in the next year as it continues to add higher-end properties and invest in its loyalty program.
If you’re interested in requesting a status match, the easiest way is to call 1-800-444-7646. You can even enroll at the same time if you don’t already have an account number. When Best Western Rewards matches your status over the phone, your new status begins immediately. If you’d prefer to match over email, email statusmatch@bestwestern.com with your full name, Best Western Rewards account number, which competitor program you belong to and your elite tier with that program. The process via email may take several days to process.

In 2018, I’m going to stay at a Best Western so I can see for myself whether the chain’s Premier Collection lives up to the hype. I’ve got an eye on Valle di Assisi in Italy or the Zante Park Hotel in Zakynthos, Greece.
My favorite part of the Best Western status match is that the program will match any status without asking questions or for verification. So if you’re thinking about booking a stay with the chain, keep in mind this free status match. If anything, it’ll help to accrue points more quickly and could help lock in a room upgrade.
