Marcos became an orphan at five years old, and has been living on his own since age twelve. Now at age eighteen, the video shows Marcos going through school and long-work shifts to ensure he receives an education and makes ends meet.
The L.A. Times reported that at Belmont High School in Los Angeles, almost 1 in 4 of the school’s students come from Central America. Many, like Gaspar, also are unaccompanied minors.
