UNITED Airlines on Sunday launched its daily non-stop flights between Los Angeles and Singapore in what has been touted as the longest non-stop passenger flight in the world.
Flight UA37 departs Los Angeles at 9.25pm (Singapore time), arriving in Singapore two days from departure in a 14,000-km journey, which is currently the world’s longest non-stop flight to or from the US.
The previous records were held by Qantas which runs flights between Dallas and Sydney stretch 13,800 km and another Singapore-San Francisco route on United (13,592 km) launched last year.
The Los Angeles and San Francisco routes will be on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft that could take up to 250 passengers at one time.

Meanwhile, Singapore’s Changi Airport is set for another year of record passenger numbers, with the addition of more flights to existing and new destinations ahead of the busy holiday season.
Close to 130 new flights a week offering travelers about 26,400 one-way seats from Singapore to 19 destinations, will be progressively added from now until the end of the year, the Straits Times reported.
This is the highest number of flights available in at least four years. It is also a stark contrast from 90 new flights during the same period last year, according to the paper.
The airport would end the year with more than last year’s record total tally of 58.7 million passengers.
Between January and August, the airport handled over 41 million passengers, 5.7 percent more than the total traffic for the corresponding period last year.
