After finding success with its monthly subscription program for flat-rate rides in Boston, New York and Miami, Uber is rolling this service out to more cities around the country. The company is calling its subscription service Uber Plus and you can now find it in Boston, Miami, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, D.C.
Basically, you’ll pay a flat fee for a fixed number of rides and then each ride you take within a pre-determined area in each city will be discounted. The exact cost structure varies by city — in some places the discounted rides only apply to UberPool — so it’s best to check each individual city’s Uber page (via the link, above). Note that if your ride costs more than $20 for an UberPool or $25 for UberX, you’ll be responsible for paying the difference. However, surge pricing does not apply to these fares, so you’ll always pay the same rate as long as your ride is under the limit.
There are only a set number of UberPlus passes available, so act fast if you live in one of these cities. If you don’t have an Uber account, sign up here to receive your first ride for free (up to $20) from TPG. Also keep in mind that you should sync a credit card with your Uber account that will earn you the most return on your ride, such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve, which gives you 3x points per dollar on travel (and dining) worldwide.
