THE Filipino islands of Boracay, Cebu, and Palawan has been declared as the top three best islands in the world, according to a renowned luxury and lifestyle magazine.
The list highlighted by the Philippine Inquirer said Cebu and the Visayan islands, although not as wild as Phuket in Thailand, came second owing to its more “personal” atmosphere with many up-and-coming restaurants.
Palawan came in third place of a total of 30 islands throughout the world. The small island— which is one of the 7,107 in the Philippines – is home to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River, one of the newly crowned seven natural wonders of the world, according to Conde Nast Traveler.

“Palawan’s natural wonder is one of the longest underground rivers in the world, travelling five miles through a subterranean cave system,” a pro tip on the Palawan read.
“Guided boat tours take visitors down a portion of the waterway, where karsts, natural rock formations created by dissolving limestone, loom in every direction.”
The list came as part of the magazine’s Readers Choice Awards which saw some 300,000 participants.
Other popular destinations included places like Sardinia, Italy, Mallorca, Spain, and Bali, Indonesia, but holidaymakers have resoundingly voted for islands in the Philippines as their preferred destination.
