OUT OF ALL the nasty hidden costs of traveling, airport parking can be the worst, depending on where you’re from.
The index provides a look into the cost of a one-week stay at the car parks of the world’s 100 busiest airports (without prior booking) and found which ones cost an arm and a leg and which ones are so cheap, you might as well drive and park.
According to the index, seven out of 10 of the cheapest parking fees are in Asia.
Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok took the top spot as the cheapest, at GDB22.54 (US$29.34) per week.
Chongjing Jiangbei International Airport in China came in second at GDP23.10 (US$30.07) for the same period of time.
Two other major Chinese airports are also in the cheapest cost of parking list, Wuhan Tianhe International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport at GDP26.95 (US$35.08) and GDP30.80 (US$40.09) respectively.

Surprisingly, the airport parking charges in one of the most expensive cities in Asia turned out to be not as cutthroat as expected.
For South Korea’s Incheon International Airport in Seoul, a week-long parking fee only costs a comfortable GDP32.16 (US$41.86).
Prices were collected in the local currency for each airport and converted to GBP, US$, and EUR using xe.com on July 16, 2018.
Meanwhile, the most expensive cost of a one-week stay in a major Asian airport is a heart-stopping GDP176.40 (US$229.61) at Abu Dhabi International Airport in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Also on the top 10 list is the bustling Changi International Airport in Singapore. A week’s worth of parking charges there will cost you a whopping GDP131.75 (US$171.49).
For the abovementioned countries, we reckon you should opt to book a Grab or Uber, or any other available ride-hailing service instead.
