THAILAND is looking to use a star-studded Bollywood lineup to boost the number of Indian tourist arrivals into the country.
The minister also said the move was aimed at drawing high-spending tourists from southern India.
The move comes as the ministry set a target to increase the number of Indian tourists from 1.2 million to two million per year.
The recent launch of AirAsia’s new route between Tiruchirappalli and Bangkok offers more than 20,000 new seats a week for travelers from Southern India to Thailand, the report said.
In July, the country’s Department of Tourism held the month-long 5th Thailand International Film Destination Festival 2017 aimed at promoting Thailand as an attractive destination for film producers.
Thailand has long been a prime destination for location shoots. Last year, the country hosted 779 separate overseas shoots, a 7.6 percent increase from 2015.
