WHEN flying aboard an airline in the Star Alliance group, passengers have the bonus to redeem their frequent flyer points across any airline.
According to Australian Business Traveller, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles can be swapped for a business class upgrade on ANA All Nippon Airways, or United miles can be traded for a better seat on Asiana Airlines.
However, there are conditions before the transfers are made. All upgrades are one-class only, which means that you won’t be bumped up from economy to first class.

Bump-ups are only eligible for top-end flexible economy tickets, so if you’ve bought a lower fare economy ticket, or already redeemed a ticket with flyer points, you won’t be eligible to be upgraded.
If your upgrade is successful, you’ll earn points and status credits based on the original ticket you paid for, and not at the business or first class rates.
In other news, Star Alliance has also introduced themed Round the World service where travelers will be whisked away on themed journeys that include food trails, architectural wonders, nature exploring, wine tasting, and romance.
Travelers can design their own individual itineraries within the maximum mileage of the selected fare level. Layovers of at least 24 hours must be made in a minimum of three cities and the overall itinerary may include up to 15 stops.
