Not to mention the traditional and rather impressive art of Sri Lankan stilt fishing.
The new tourism plan aims to lure in even more visitors to the area while protecting Galle’s heritage.
One of the methods Wickremesinghe is employing to build Galle as a travel hub is by prohibiting future fortifications in Galle Fort.
In addition, all illegal constructions within Galle Fort would be removed and state organizations located in the Galle Fort area would be shifted without delay, Xinhua reported.
This is an action deeply appreciated by established and legal business in the area.
“We are extremely pleased that the Government has shown its capability to take effective measures to safeguard the general public and tourists who regularly visit this scenic part of the coastline,” The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka said in a statement.
The plan also aims to boost the quality of services provided by businesses with the Sri Lankan tourism industry.
