SINGAPORE brought home a glut of prizes at this year’s World Travel Awards presented Sunday in Vietnam. And it’ll come as no surprise that the little red dot dominated the skies, with Singapore Airlines and Changi Airport picking up the top prizes in air travel.
After a successful relaunch of their luxury cabins back in November, the airline also picked up Asia’s best first-class. This will come as no surprise to anyone who’s seen the impressive US$850 million redesign implemented on the Airbus A380.
The spacious new re-fit was four years in the making, will see all classes get an overhaul offering more space and privacy and a few luxurious features to make the journey more comfortable.

The newly revamped Suites have incorporated some added touches, such as an adjustable recline swivel chair and a double bathroom – one of which has a sit-down vanity counter. For couples traveling together, there is the option to convert two suites into a double bed.
Singapore’s Changi Airport is also no stranger to accolades, picking up the World’s Leading Airport on Sunday. Although, given the airport’s dominance of the award over the last decade, it would have been more of a surprise if I didn’t land the top prize.
The Singapore jewel has picked up both the world’s best and Asia’s best airport at the WTA’s 11 times over the last 12 years. It now seems an indisputable fact this is the most loved airport in the world.
Changi is widely known among travelers for its entertainment, art, shopping mall, and sophisticated features, surpassing expectations of airport facilities in general.

For instance, those waiting in transit can catch a free flick at the airport “cinema,” enjoy a massage, sip on a poolside cocktail, witness art installations, or trawl the nature and orchid gardens.
On the whole, it was a good night for the that patch of Southeast Asia as Malaysia’s own Air Asia also picked up a slew of gongs for Leading Low Cost Airline and best cabin crew in both the world and Asia.
