IF you ever head to China’s financial hub, Shanghai, and have a little extra money to spend, you might want to consider this new luxury car service.
According to Time Out Shanghai, the ride-hailing company introduced its luxury option DiDi Luxe in Shanghai on Oct 20, following the rolling out of its service in Beijing.
DiDi Luxe general manager Yang Nan said individuals with high purchasing power in China have begun embracing the “asset-light” philosophy. Instead of owning luxury items, these individuals would still be able to enjoy them – and probably at the fraction of the cost.
While luxury car ride-hailing is not new in the region, DiDi Luxe is going the extra mile by making every detail of the subscribed journey customized – from the brand and make of the vehicle, right up to the music and available refreshments.
Among other swanky vehicles, the service’s fleet of cars includes the BMW 5 series Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Audi A6L. The company is also looking to offer a larger range of vehicles in future.
The “chauffeurs” of the service are also reportedly well-trained, professional drivers who have been groomed to provide five-star hotel service standard. This means its highly unlikely you’ll receive phone calls asking for directions to your pickup location.
So, if you already have installed the DiDi app on your smartphone and want to use the new service in Shanghai, all you need to do is update it. Otherwise, the app can be downloaded from app stores.
Language is also not a barrier as the app is available in English, while bookings need to be made at least 15 minutes ahead of the desired departure time.
