With access to more than 1,200 lounges worldwide, Priority Pass has quite the network. Recently, the program has branched out and started to add restaurants to its roster, letting members enjoy a true sit-down dining experience as part of their membership.
While Priority Pass is adding restaurant lounges around the world, most TPG readers aren’t going to be able to take advantage of the $53 in free food and drink in Sydney’s airport (SYD) very often. But, the good news is there are now 25 restaurant lounges in 16 US airports.
Last week, Priority Pass added three new restaurants to the network: two in Houston’s Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and one at Los Angeles (LAX). On Wednesday, Priority Pass added yet another restaurant option added to LAX as well as a restaurant to Salt Like City airport (SLC).
P.F. Chang’s at Los Angeles (LAX)
While most of the restaurants that contract with Priority Pass are local chains, this marks one of the first that’s a national chain. The P.F. Chang’s in LAX’s Tom Bradley International Terminal joined the Priority Pass network this week. You can view a menu for this location here (caution: PDF link).
Between 11:00am and 11:00pm, members can visit P.F. Chang’s and get $30 per person ($2 more than at all of the other restaurants) for the cardholder and up to one guest. That means you’ll be able to order up to $60 in complimentary food and drink if you visit with at least one other person. Note that the terms and conditions require that you “must present a valid Card and Boarding Pass with confirmed same-day travel before placing an order.” If you forgot your physical card at home, this lounge allows digital card access.
This isn’t the first Priority Pass lounge in LAX. Members have had the option of visiting the Korean Air KAL Lounge, which provides a decent selection of finger foods from a buffet. However, the addition of a full restaurant is a notable improvement — especially for those that might be about to take a long flight across the Atlantic.
Il Viaggio (SLC)
Although this restaurant isn’t showing up on Priority Pass’ website yet, it’s been added to the Priority Pass app. Per the SLC airport website, Il Viaggio is “designed to show the younger, faster, casual side of Italy,” serving specialty salads, paninis, pizza, and pasta dishes. The restaurant is located near gate D4 on the airport’s second level.
Between 6:00am and 10:30pm daily, members can visit Il Viaggio and get $28 per person for the cardholder and up to one guest. That means you’ll be able to order up to $56 in complimentary food and drink if you visit with at least one other person. Note that the terms and conditions require that you “must present a valid Card and Boarding Pass with confirmed same-day travel before placing an order.” If you forgot your physical card at home, this lounge allows digital card access.
With these restaurants added, there are now 25 Priority Pass restaurants in the US. Each of these offer members $28-30 per guest in food and drink. Here’s a list of all of them with the latest additions highlighted:
In addition to restaurants, you can get $28 per guest in booze at House Spirits Distillery in Portland (PDX).
To get free food or booze at these Priority Pass lounges, you’re going to need a Priority Pass membership. The best way to do so is by having a membership through a credit card, such as Chase Sapphire Reserve, The Platinum Card® from American Express, Ritz-Carlton Rewards Credit Card, Hilton Honors Aspire Card from American Express or Citi Prestige.
You can also get 10 annual Priority Pass lounge visits through the Hilton Honors American Express Ascend Card or the Hilton Honors American Express Business Card. That’s up to $280 of free food and drink per year from a $95 annual fee card.
And here’s a reminder that shouldn’t need to be said: Tip your restaurant waitstaff. Despite the food being free through the Priority Pass benefit, they worked just as hard as they would have if you were paying for the meal. I’ve been absolutely appalled to witness Priority Pass members stiff the waitstaff on multiple occasions at US Priority Pass restaurants. It’s actions like this that threaten the sustainability of this program. So, if you want to continue to get free food at these Priority Pass restaurants, make sure to bring cash along to tip your waiter/waitress. Or, many restaurants will ring up a $0.01 charge so that you can pay — and tip — via a credit card:
