Africa220 Destination Management has appointed Planet Destinations as the authorised sales and representation agent for the UK market.
SW Africa Destination Management has appointed Cologne-based Maesse Marketing Consulting Ltd to promote it in all German-speaking markets (Germany, Switzerland and Austria). A second Brussels-based representative, Iris Mertens Destination Promotion, will commence promotion of the company’s services in The Netherlands and Belgium, on August 1.
“Overseas representation increases our market presence and service offering, to better satisfy the ever-increasing demands of our clients in these competitive markets,” said Henk Graaff, SW Africa MD.

Michéll Fourie, will be leaving her post at Air Namibia as Commercial Services South Africa: Manager Sales and Marketing. Fourie will be pursuing a career at Voyagers Travel in Zambia.
The Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO) voted in a new board on July 14, at its annual general meeting at Hotel Africana.
Members held nominations of candidates, who were then seconded by at least one member of the association. Thereafter, an election to vote for a new board was held. A total of 186 votes were cast, with only one invalid vote.
The election was presided over by a private Electoral Committee headed by Dr. Akankwasa Barirega (Ministry of Tourism Wildlife & Antiques); and included Raymond Engena (Uganda Wildlife Authority), John Waigo (Uganda Tourism Board) and Senior Commissioner of police. It was agreed that the elections were free and fair, with the greatest level of transparency.
Jackie Williams joined the Minor Hotels Regional team in Johannesburg, South Africa on July 1. Williams joined the team in the capacity of Regional Director of Sales and Marketing and will be reporting directly to Sir Richard Hawkins, Regional Director Hotel Operations Africa.
Williams previously worked with the Tsogo Sun Group with her most recent position at the group as director of sales: hotels, which she held until October 2015. She has since been involved with project work at one of the reputable hotels in Johannesburg.
“Jackie’s skills and experience are a great match for our agenda, which is to grow and develop the depth and breadth of our brands in the African region. We look forward to taking the business to new heights collectively as a team,” said Hawkins.
