North Korea, however, has never shared how many websites the country had registered for its own domain, .kp. But recently North Korea misconfigured its nameserver, accidentally letting anyone get the official list and all other (usually) heavily-guarded info on the domain.
According to leaked data, North Korea only has a whopping 28 registered domains, most based on powerful political propaganda such as the site of the official newspaper of North Korea’s communist party.
Doug Madory, a researcher at Dyn, a company that monitors internet use and access around the world, commented: “We didn’t think there was much in the way of internet resources in North Korea, and according to these leaked zone files, we were right.”
