THE Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) is currently touring China on a series of roadshows to strengthen ties with the Chinese MICE market.
Over 20 of MyCEB’s industry partners comprising hotels, venue providers, destination management companies (DMC), event suppliers, airlines and convention centers, as well as state bureaus are participating in the roadshows.
The China Roadshow 2016 will provide meeting organizers in China an opportunity to view Malaysia’s offerings ranging from convention centers to exhibition venues, and will act as a ground to discuss prospective business collaborations.
Chief executive officer of MyCEB said, “Malaysia has so far hosted a total of 26,240 delegates halfway through 2016 from various incentive groups in China. This translates to over RM406 million (about US$99 million) in total economic impact to the country.”
The Star reported that Malaysia has set itself as one of the top ten international destinations for business tourism, a title that was bestowed upon the nation at the China MICE Industry Golden Chair Awards.
Last year, MyCEB supported 78 conventions, 112 corporate meetings and incentive programs, and 24 trade exhibitions in Malaysia. This accounted for 108,105 inbound delegates and about US$202 million in returns.
