ART BASEL – which has staged its Asian edition in Hong Kong since 2013 – has quite the global reputation for being the leader in staging the modern and contemporary art fairs.
The annual exhibitions are normally held in Basel, Miami Beach and Hong Kong. And for the 2018 Hong Kong exhibition, Art Basel and The Murray Hotel have teamed up to showcase 248 premier galleries from 32 countries and territories.
The show will provide an in-depth overview of the region’s diversity through both historical and cutting-edge works by established and emerging artists. However, The Murray – a Niccolo Hotel – is also displaying its dedication to the art scene as this is a first-time partnership with the exhibitor; one it is hoped will attract global media, collectors, artists and art admirers.
“We are thrilled that The Murray, Hong Kong is the official hotel partner for Art Basel Hong Kong 2018,” Duncan Palmer, managing director of The Murray told Travel Daily Asia. “This exciting partnership reinforces the hotel’s commitment to supporting the creative community in Hong Kong and the broader international art scene.”
The exhibition will take place from March 29-31, 2018 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre near the harbor.
Some of the hundreds of galleries featuring in the exhibition include the oh-so-colorful Massimo Decarlo, the intriguing and head-tilting Konig Galerie and the gloriously vibrant Gow Langsford Gallery.
As well as awe-inspiring works of art, the event will also host discovery projects, including Project Native Informant, Various Small Fires and Urano.
The momentous partnership between Art Basel and The Murray hopes to provide citizens of Hong Kong –and those who travel from further afield – with an inspiring and contemporary exhibition.
Art Basel has got the masterpieces covered, while The Murray provides exceptional hospitality through design and diverse culinary offerings. The special “For Art’s Sake” bundle is available to guests from March 28 to April 4, 2018.
