The 59-year-old injured airport worker, who jumped from the vehicle, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was treated for facial and limb injuries.
Airline spokesman Martha Thomas told the Associated Press (via CBS Los Angeles) the container that was on the loading equipment also caught fire in the process.
Without providing the details, Thomas said the cargo it contained was “non-hazardous”, adding the airline was looking into the cause of the mechanical issue that triggered the fire.
