New Zealand is already known for its scenic nature (beaches, pasture lands, lakes), having been featured in the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies.
But now, with so many cuisines that will suit even the most discerning palate, Muslim travelers will have even more reasons to visit.
Fish and chips is definitely a thing in New Zealand, but it’s also a dime a dozen. The new guide introduces delicious halal-certified food that ranges from modern Indian to Southeast Asian and authentic Middle Eastern on top of fresh seafood and delectable Western fare.
Visiting Central Auckland sometime soon? Be sure to grab some puffs and pies from Bake and Beans or check out City Pizza if you’re absolutely famished.
Halal foodies going to Wellington will also love the yummies with an authentic Indonesian flavor that Garuda Food Truck serves or the it’s-so-good-it’s-hard-to-believe-it’s-vegetarian dishes that Nature Vegetarian whip up.
On the east coast of New Zealand’s South Island, Muslim travelers aren’t forgotten as the historic Christchurch has now a handful of halal-certified eateries such as season vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free food cafe The Herb Centre.
Just remember to keep a lookout for the badges in the listings so that you know exactly what you’re getting.
Go for the scenic highlights, stay for the food. Tourism New Zealand’s Halal Food Guide is available for download on the website.
