Jet2.com has scrapped card fees for all bookings paid for with a credit card, debit card or AMEX.
Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2.com, said: “We led the way in ditching credit card fees a year ago, when Jet2.com and Jet2holidays became the first airline and package holiday operator in the UK to drop all credit card charges on flights and holidays.
“After listening to our customers we have taken this commitment a step further, removing the fee for all AMEX transactions too, meaning that we offer a 100 per cent fee-free service when booking with a card.
“Booking a holiday or a flight is a moment of real joy and excitement, so we urge other airlines and holiday companies to follow our lead and make it easier for them to enjoy that moment without having to pay a fee.”
The Jet2.com move follows a similar decision from Monarch earlier this month.
From December 15th, the carrier will see credit card charges will be reduced to zero.
The reduction, of up to three per cent of the booking fee, will apply to flight and holiday bookings made through the company’s websites or UK based contact centres.
Customers can also book using PayPal and benefit from the financial protection provided by credit cards and PayPal for flight bookings.
Commenting, Ian Chambers, chief commercial at Monarch, said: “Going to naught per cent for credit card bookings means that our customers can get the best value from their flight and holiday bookings – and benefit from the protection that credit cards offer, without having to pay extra for it.”
