GLAMPING, short for “glamorous camping,” is one of the best ways to experience stunning nature in off the beaten path parts of the world without having to sacrifice creature comforts.
Glamping goes beyond living in a nice tent – it’s a movement.
With incredible destinations mushrooming across the globe, from a forest canopy in a treehouse to a tent by the beach or a yurt on a mountaintop, this approach to travel is continuing to gain traction, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down.
“In recent years, many people are tired of the older style vacations where you travel to a city to stay in a hotel or go to a theme park. Although these types of vacations were very popular 20 years ago, you now have big city markets with people in them who are working very hard and want to get out of the city to disconnect,” Glamping Hub co-founder and CSO Ruben Martinez explained.
“Whether you are in Seattle, Hong Kong, London, or wherever, having the opportunity to leave the city for a weekend to enjoy a weekend away in nature has now become very attractive to the big city markets.”

For people who want to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, glamping is the most accessible escape as travelers can just hop into their cars, zip out on the highway, and arrive at their glamping site in a completely different setting sometimes in under an hour.
Cue, fresh air and the occasional unidentified noises of the wilderness.
That having said, not everyone has taken to glamping that easily.
“Do I want to be in the company of bugs and critters after paying the equivalent of a luxury hotel stay?”
“It’s like camping, right? Will I get WiFi?”
“I’d likely still have to hop on a plane, right? Considering how most of the best glamping destinations are not in Asia.”
Let’s take a look at your main concerns and see if we can make glamping for you.
I’m too old/too young for this
Is your age the one thing that’s stopping you from experiencing glamping?
What if we revealed the generation of traveler that glamping has appealed to the most since its inception?
Based on the bookings on Glamping Hub, there are two main markets of glampers – millennials and baby boomers. Yes, baby boomers, those born between 1946 and 1964.

It’s hardly surprising that glamping appeals to millennials as this horde of travelers are swaying towards adventure and experiences in their travels more than anything else, and glamping is a good the way to go.
But baby boomers?
“Baby boomers have a bit more disposable income and want to be comfortable, and when they grew up or were kids they went camping, but right now they have time and the finances to take advantage of a glamping getaway,” Martinez explained.
Females don’t know how to rough it
Don’t worry, no “roughing out” will be required in most cases.
“Glamping offers everything that camping offers with access to Mother Nature and activities, but glamping allows you to enjoy this and a brand new experience without having to endure the roughing it part. You can arrive at a glamp site that is fully furnished and prepared to offer you an amazing stay,” Martinez revealed.
Glamping accommodations offer amenities and resort-like services more advanced than regular camping. This means electricity, air conditioning, and even butlers if you want.
So put that expensive camping gear aside. All you need is a bag of your clothes, toiletries, and maybe some snacks if you’d like.

“The majority of our decision makers are female, with females making up 70 percent of our demographic,” Martinez added.
What’s your excuse now, ladies? Full girl power ahead!
It’s too expensive or too far away
“One of the misconceptions is that glamping has to be this really upscale luxurious trip that people have to spend an extreme amount of money on to be able to go or a once in a lifetime vacation that they have to save up for years,” Martinez said.
It doesn’t always have to be a safari tent with a private chef and a king-sized Tempurpedic bed. Depending on where you’re from and the experience you want, there will always something that best suits you and your budget.
“Glampers can find anything from US$75 to US$7,500 a night, so there’s something for everybody’s price point,” Martinez added.
“There is another misconception that it is only in certain parts of the country, only in the US and the UK, and that is not the case as there is a high level of density all over the globe, and it is growing in places like Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.”

In fact, based on Glamping Hub’s bookings, a huge amount of traffic is currently being driven to Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bali, and Malaysia.
With such a great diversity in what glamping sites are offered in those areas, from bungalows and huts in Vietnam to villas in Bali to luxury tents in Malaysia, there really is something for everybody.
I don’t know how to glamp
There’s always the fear of unchartered territory and having to maneuver in and around the unknown. But what’s an adventure without it?
For the aspiring glampers who have been held back from your first glamping trip, you simply have to keep an open mind and maybe play it safe for the first time by picking someplace that’s close to you.
“If glamping is something you are trying out for the first time then find something close to you where you do not have to travel across the globe and check something out in your area. You can try many accommodations like a tree house, yurt, casita, safari tent, and more, to find what your perfect accommodation is,” Martinez explained.
Take as many pictures, videos, and Boomerangs of your glamping site as possible. We shouldn’t waste the opportunity to share the wonders of natures with anyone who is willing to see/listen or to do it for the ‘gram.

But don’t forget to disconnect.
“A lot of these places are breathtaking and unique, so you will want to share your experience, while also being intentional about disconnecting. A lot of the benefit to these types of properties is they are off the beaten path and remote, and although many of these accommodations do have the technology, really the purpose is to disconnect and reconnect with nature. We do want people to gather and make meaningful connections with each other while glamping,” Martinez added.
“Also, interact with the host when possible. These hosts are business owners who are extremely interesting people, who have had some great stories, and whose properties have gone through cool journeys, so take advantage of being with the host to learn more and be part of the properties’ journeys.”
Launched in 2014, Glamping Hub is the world’s leading portal for unique outdoor accommodations across the globe, with over 34,000 accommodations of 27 different types in 115 countries.
