Since late September, two Delta co-branded business credit cards have been offering higher than usual sign-up bonuses: the Gold Delta SkyMiles Business Credit Card from American Express and the Platinum Delta SkyMiles Business Credit Card from American Express. These offers provide new cardholders the opportunity to earn 50,000 miles or 70,000 miles and 10,000 MQMs, respectively, after meeting the minimum spending requirements, but they’ll be expiring on November 9 (next Wednesday) so you’ll want to act fast if you’re interested.
Gold Delta SkyMiles Business Credit Card from American Express
As a reminder, this card’s currently offering 50,000 bonus miles after you spend $2,000 on the card within the first three months. The usual sign-up offer is just 30,000 miles (after spending $1,000), so you can currently take home 20,000 more rewards to help you toward your next trip. Based on TPG’s latest valuations, 50,000 SkyMiles are worth $600 — compared to $360 for the standard sign-up offer. Also note that you can earn a $50 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase with this card in the first three months of account membership.
This card has a $95 annual fee that’s waived the first year, and it earns you 2 miles per dollar on Delta purchases and 1 mile per dollar on everything else. Other perks include priority boarding, a first bag checked free and 20% off in-flight purchases.
Platinum Delta SkyMiles Business Credit Card from American Express
If you’re looking to boost your SkyMiles balance significantly and work toward Delta elite status, this card could be worth a closer look. Currently, you’ll earn 70,000 bonus miles and 10,000 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) after spending $5,000 in the first three months. This is literally double the standard sign-up offer of 35,000 miles and 5,000 MQMs (after spending $1,000 in the first three months). You can also earn a $100 statement credit when you make a Delta purchase with the card in the first three months.
Based on TPG’s valuations, 70,000 SkyMiles are worth $840. While that stash of miles can come in handy for award travel, the 10,000 MQMs could also prove to be quite valuable if you’re hoping to secure Delta elite status; you’d be 40% of the way to Medallion Silver if you earned this sign-up bonus, and if you’ve already accumulated MQMs through paid travel, these could bring you even closer to Silver or a higher Medallion tier. And don’t forget that you can earn additional MQMs by meeting spending thresholds with the Platinum Delta SkyMiles Business Card; you’ll get 10,000 MQMs (and 10,000 bonus miles) when you spend $25,000 in a calendar year, plus another 10,000 MQMs and 10,000 bonus miles when you spend $50,000 in a calendar year.
This card has a $195 annual fee, and its other benefits include an annual companion certification for domestic economy round-trip travel, plus priority boarding, a first bag checked free and 20% off in-flight purchases. As with the Gold Delta SkyMiles Business Card, you’ll earn 2 miles per dollar on Delta purchases and 1 mile per dollar on everything else.
Bottom Line
Now’s an ideal time to sign up for either of these cards, since you’ll earn significantly more miles for meeting the spending requirements, and more MQMs in the case of the Platinum Delta SkyMiles Business Card. Remember that these offers expire next Wednesday, November 9, so be sure to apply before then if you’re interested!
