TOURISTS around the world are turning to “doortraits”, portraits of pretty doors they come across during their travels.
“Doortrait” taker Laurel Waldron told The Daily Mail that the mystery of what’s behind a door makes these photos strangely fascinating.
“A stunning secret courtyard, a house rich in stories and treasures, or a hidden oasis in the midst of a busy street – who knows what could lie behind ?,” she said.
Photographer Andre Vicente Goncalves sprung to Internet fame last year when he published a series of collages portraying beautiful windows of the world. He has since been working on a similar concept for “doors of the world“, the results of which have been stunning.
Particularly in Asia where “door aesthetic” is sometimes forgotten, this invigorating series of photos showcases the curves, contours, and colors that make up the entrance to a mysterious place beyond.
