WHAT was once Alila Villas Soori is now Soori Bali, an isolated luxury beach resort in the Tabanan Regency tucked between a volcanic sand beach and a vast patch of rice paddy.
All 48 private pool villas are undergoing refurbishments and will be re-launched later this year.
Singaporean architect Soo Khian Chan and wife Ling Fu’s Leading Hotels of The World welcomes Soori Bali to its portfolio, and marks a series of developments soon to be rolled out under the Soori brand.
Soo said in a press statement, “For Ling and I, Soori Bali is as much a state of mind as it is a world-class resort; it’s a peaceful, spiritual, healing and re-energising place.”
They drew inspiration from nearby villages and its surrounding natural landscape. The dormant Mount Batukaru looms in the near distance, providing the resort with a dramatic backdrop.
Going with the natural formations surrounding the resort, much effort was taken to attain its EarthCheck certification; carbon footprint is minimized through reduced energy consumption, water conservation, waste management and use of organic products.
The culturally sustainable resort also blends its natural surrounds with contemporary Balinese design elements using polished teak and intricate terracotta tiles created by local artisans.
Wellbeing is also a key aspect of the rebrand with a team of on-site practitioners and visiting wellness experts offering physical alignment and massage therapies, acupuncture, meditation, neurotherapy, and longevity procedures.
