GLAMPING – a fusion of glamour and camping – is not going anywhere as a travel trend.
Sometimes, glamping sites take it up a notch by incorporating luxury into features and amenities such as beautiful canvas tents and soft linen sheets, a perfect option for those who want a feel of the outdoors without compromising comfort.
In India, glamping seems to be taking off, as personified by The Ultimate Travelling Camp (TUTC), the country’s first range of mobile luxury camps.
These nomadic luxury camps are set up in carefully selected locations, some which include mountains, deserts, forests, and unexplored countryside.
On the company’s official website, guests are assured to get a feel of India’s dramatic landscapes, fairs, festivals, and colorful tribal heritage.
Beautiful camp sites are set up in Thiksey, Ladakh and Nagaland, most of which are nestled in secluded forested areas.
The camp in Nagaland’s Kohima will allow for guests to immerse in local culture while participating in activities such as drinking local rice beer, trying tribal dishes, partake in folk song and dance, and climbing greased bamboo poles.
These camps also offer services such as WiFi at reception, 24-hour security, a personal butler, and an on-site library. Each tent has an ensuite bathroom with hot water.
Meanwhile, the tents are decked out in soft khaki colors, flowing drapery, and wooden chandeliers, influenced by the era of India’s British colony.
