FOR the first time ever, Time magazine has issued a list of the World’s Greatest Places to visit in 2018.
The final list was created from a variety of solicited nominations from Times‘ international editors and industry experts.
The categories such as parks, bars, restaurants, theme parks, cruises, and hotels were awarded points based on key factors including quality, originality, innovation, sustainability, and influence. The winners were then segmented into “to visit, to stay, to eat and drink.”
Unsurprisingly, of the 100 entries which span six continents and 48 countries, 30 of them are in Asia.
Time is certainly thinking outside the box with its list. Instead of featuring the predictable places such as Angkor Wat in Cambodia, it’s focusing on places which seamlessly combine Asia’s natural beauty, innovative modernity and authentic yet reimagined tastes such as Conrad Maldives’ underwater restaurant and Australia’s The Collection hotel.
But it’s not all fancy pants, hotels, uber-chic museums, and wacky restaurants that have made the list.
Let us reveal the places in Asia worthy of making it onto Times’ greatest places to visit list that let you know where to find the freshest lemon tarts in China to the most divine bridge in the world.
To Visit
Asia is not a place that can be defined in a word or even a phrase.
Time recognizes this, which is why new buildings, such as the Tianjin Binhai Library are on the same list as Sunder Nursery, a 16th-century heritage park in India.
Have a scroll through and add to your travel bucket list as you go.
