A FAMILY-FRIENDLY hotel collection catered to “demanding parents” traveling with children is looking to expand in Asia Pacific this year.
Founder Jerome Stefanski was inspired by the concept of a children-friendly group when a hotel in the Netherlands was unable to provide basic services for his young child, including an emergency bottle.
The company said in a statement: “This generation (millennials) travels with their families and, by definition, consumes more than other customers.
“This family target generates a significant turnover for the hotelier.”
Currently, only one south Asia property is listed in the collection’s portfolio – The Slate in Phuket.
The five-star resort offers child-friendly facilities such as a non-smoking family pool with a children’s area, a kids club called the “Tin Box”, and add-on babysitting services.
Sports and creative activities are also offered such as cooking lessons where kids will ty their hand at basic Thai cooking, basic martial arts training inspired by Kung Fu Panda, scavenger hunts, and themed massages and spa treatments.
The Farm at Cape Kidnappers in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand, is also popular among young families with child-friendly services such as a children’s menu, toys, games, the option of cribs, and accommodation for nannies.
As a bonus, all suites are stocked daily with freshly baked cookies and brownies as well as fresh fruits.
All member hotels in the collection are obliged to provide, upon request, emergency baby bottles, pacifiers, high chairs, strollers and baby cosmetics.
They are also required to meet standards to cater to the needs of children under 12 years old, with facilities including kids’ clubs, babysitting, cars with child seats, and children’s menus.
