Two years ago, Hilton launched a lifetime status program, following in the footsteps of other major chains like Hyatt, Marriott and Starwood which all offer ways to earn elite status for life within each respective program.
Currently, you can only qualify for Lifetime Diamond status if you meet the following criteria:
- You must have maintained Diamond status for at least 10 years, although the years don’t have to be consecutive
- You must have completed paid stays totaling at least 1,000 nights
However, Hilton is making some tweaks to the qualification process for Lifetime Diamond that will go into effect next year. While these changes won’t impact most HHonors members, it’s nice to see Hilton listening to feedback from customers and adding another way through which guests can achieve lifetime elite recognition with the brand. Hilton does offer this status for free from time to time as well, but you’ll typically only receive it for 90 days unless you meet certain requirements — that’s no match for a lifetime perk.
