The Hilton portfolio of hotels will expand once again, with a new focus on independent and boutique experiences for travelers. The Virginia-based megachain just announced that its fourteenth brand will be the Tapestry Collection by Hilton.
This is the second “collection” brand under the corporate umbrella, with a focus on unique and independent locations. The Tapestry Collection will offer a selection of “original, upscale hotels” at a step below the other “collection” brand, Curio by Hilton.
Seven hotels will be available under the new brand when it becomes active in the fall of 2017. The first properties will be in Chicago, Hampton, Va., Indianapolis (there will be two in this city), Nashville, Syracuse and Warren, N.J. Hilton is also in negotiations with 35 additional hotels across the United States to join the Tapestry Collection. No international destinations have been announced yet.
Hotels in the the new Tapestry Collection will be part of the Hilton HHonors program, meaning guests can earn points on stays, enjoy benefits through loyalty status and redeem points for award nights. However, Hilton hasn’t announced which category the hotels will fall into, nor if they will be subject to special rules for points earning, similar to its Home2 by Hilton brand.
Because the Tapestry Collection will focus on combining value with luxury, it’s safe to assume that the hotels will be in a lower category class than those in the Curio collection, which can range from Hilton HHonors categories 7 through 9. At the lowest potential groups the new hotels could belong to (category 6 and 7), travelers could look to pay up to 60,000 Hilton HHonors points per night.
For those who want to get ahead of the launch, the Hilton HHonors Surpass Card from American Express is currently offering 75,000 HHonors points after qualified cardholders spend $3,000 in the first three months of cardmembership. Cardholders will also earn 12x points when using the card at a participating hotel in the Hilton portfolio.
