FlySafair has loaded Lanseria-George flights for May to October on to the GDS and has upped frequencies on the route over peak holiday periods, such as school holidays and long weekends.
Kirby Gordon, Head of Sales and Distribution, explains that while most of FlySafair’s routes have strong weekend demand, HLA-GRJ is the only one that is predominantly a weekend route, with most flights operating on Fridays and Sundays. “This route is well suited to people who commute weekly between the Garden Route and Johannesburg, which is a fairly common phenomenon.”
Kirby says FlySafair often loads additional capacity on ‘holiday routes’ during peak periods. Being able to be flexible with schedules strategically to add additional flights is one of the airline’s strengths, he says. In December last year, FlySafair operated 168 flights between JNB and HLA and GRJ compared with 76 flights in November last year.
The airline will operate 142 flights on this route in March and 138 in April, but only 73 in May.
