WHEN AN IN-FLIGHT safety video plays before takeoff, how many of us are really paying attention?
Identifying with the fact that passengers often zone out during these videos, airlines have become smarter.
Air New Zealand, Virgin, Delta, and British Airways shot memorable pre-flight safety videos featuring star-studded performances and pop culture references, which made them fun to watch.
Now, it seems like they have come to the point of trying to outdo each other in terms of “the most engaging video”.
Turkish Airlines recently joined the crowd by updating its safety clip to feature the all-awesome, all-colorful characters from The LEGO Movie.

“Turkish Airlines’ tie-up with The Lego Movie franchise has resulted in an onboard safety demonstration video made from 2,938,840 Lego bricks. This was painstakingly arranged over the course of 950 days.” The Drum wrote.
The five-minute video features the popular animated flick’s heroic protagonists Emmet and Wyldstyle as the narrators.
The duo introduced themselves before going on to explain what they’ve been getting up to between shooting blockbuster films. Such as starring in “a flashy airlines safety video”.
Emmet and Wyldstyle are joined by a slew of other The LEGO Movie characters such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and the LEGO shark.
Trust us when we say that it is hard to hold back from chuckling at the movie’s self-depreciating humor throughout the entire clip.
“Turkish Airlines aims to keep with the trends, and to collaborate with celebrities and content creators that help us distinguish our content from the other,” The Drum quoted Turkish Airlines corporate communications senior vice president Seda Kalyoncu as saying.
“As the airline that flies to more countries than any other, collaborating with global brands such as Warner Bros and Lego also contributes positively to our brand image and strengthens our position and prestige as one of the leading global airline brands.”
30 different versions of the video in both Turkish and English covering different safety aspects of the airline’s 15-strong fleet were made.
