Sad you missed out on the elevated bonuses just a few months ago for the Hilton Honors Card from American Express and the Hilton Honors Surpass Card from American Express? Well, good offers are back, running for a limited-time with increased sign-ups. If you’re approved and meet the minimum spending requirements, you could earn up to 75,000 Hilton Honors points with the no-fee Hilton Amex and 100,000 points with the Hilton Honors Surpass Card. Note that these offers will only be available until October 4.
Hilton Honors Card
The standard offer for this no-fee card is 50,000 points after you spend $1,000 in the first three months. However, with the current offer you can earn up to 75,000 points — 50,000 after spending the same $1,000 in the first three months, plus an additional 25,000 points after spending another $1,000 in the first six months. Based on TPG’s latest valuations, earning the full 75,000-point bonus would get you $450 in value toward Hilton redemptions.
This offer is a hair lower than the previous increased sign-up bonus, which netted new cardholders 80,000 points after spending $2,000 in the first three months. Still, it’s a solid opportunity to get 25,000 more points than the standard offer.
With the Hilton Honors Amex, you’ll earn 7x points on Hilton purchases; 5x points at US restaurants, at US supermarkets and US gas stations; and 3x points on everything else. Other card benefits include complimentary Hilton Honors Silver status, and an upgrade to Gold status when you spend $20,000 on the card in a calendar year. Note that the card charges a 2.7% foreign transaction fee, so you won’t want to use it abroad.
Hilton Honors Surpass Card
The more premium Hilton Honors Surpass Card is once again offering a bonus of 100,000 points after you spend $3,000 in the first three months. This is 25,000 more points than the card’s standard offer, and it doesn’t require spending more than the usual $3,000 requirement. Based on TPG’s valuations, 100,000 Hilton points are worth $600.
In addition to offering a higher sign-up bonus, the Surpass Amex has higher earning rates than the Hilton Amex: 12x points on Hilton purchases; 6x points at US restaurants, supermarkets and gas stations; and 3x points on everything else. As a cardholder, you get complimentary Hilton Honors Gold status, with the ability to upgrade to Diamond when you spend $40,000 on the card in a calendar year. This card has a $75 annual fee, and (unfortunately) it also charges a 2.7% fee on foreign transactions.
Bottom Line
We didn’t have to wait long to see elevated offers from the two remaining Hilton credit cards available for new sign-ups. So if you’re short on points and need to stock up ahead of an award stay, one or both of these offers could make sense for you. Remember that these elevated bonuses will be available until October 4, so make sure to apply by that date if you’re interested.
