Themed character encounters and special projections on Cinderella Castle and the Hollywood Tower Hotel will help guests at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando get in the holiday spirit this year.
The holidays arrived in Disney World last week with decorations throughout the property. Disney also announced its slate of special holiday entertainment to come, part of a celebration that will continue through Dec. 30.
At the Magic Kingdom, characters will wear their holiday finest for a series of cavalcades. The floats and music will be Christmas-themed, featuring things like Mickey and friends trimming a tree or Goofy and friends baking treats. Santa will also make special appearances.
On Main Street, U.S.A., the Holiday Trolley will travel up and down the street featuring holiday harmonies from the Dapper Dans barbershop quartet. Toy Soldiers may also join the Main Street Philharmonic when they march down the street.
Cinderella Castle will light up at night with special projection effects, with images ranging from a Christmas sweater to festive holiday patterns.
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the flotillas that regularly sail down the Discovery River with characters will also be decorated. Their soundtrack will be holiday-themed, as well.
Guests will be able to spot Donald’s Dino Bash Festive Flotilla as well as Chip ‘n’ Dale and the Discovery Island Drummers.
Santa will be the main feature of his own holiday motorcade, which will be led by elves down Hollywood Boulevard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The show “For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration” features a new festive finale, featuring the snowman Olaf from the “Frozen” franchise singing holiday favorites.
The Hollywood Tower Hotel on Sunset Boulevard will also get special treatment after dark, when it becomes the Hollywood Holiday Tower Hotel. Its themes include a Muppets gingerbread house and a Toy Story toy hotel.
Epcot will start its holiday celebrations later this month when the Taste of Epcot International Festival of the Holidays begins Nov. 27. It will feature live entertainment, Holiday Kitchens, the Holiday Cookie Stroll and more.
At shopping, dining and entertainment complex Disney Springs, guests can walk along the Disney Springs Christmas Tree Stroll as well as enjoy DJs during the day and holiday-themed characters like stilt-walking toy soldiers in the evening.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit Disney Springs later in November, as well, cruising Lake Buena Vista in a pair of decorated pontoon boats.
