Real Foods Group has launched a reconceptualised dining experience in Kloof Street, Cape Town, to reduce the concern of patrons during COVID-19.
The concept focuses on the group’s four fast-casual dining brands, Nü Health Food Café, Schoon Bread Café, Free Bird and Kofi.
“COVID-19 has changed casual dining, so we’ve embraced the new requirements for a safe dining experience at Kloof Street Village and have considered how people want to socialise. Although the site was secured prior to lockdown, we completely redesigned the restaurant during lockdown by conceptualising what it would take for maximum health and safety,” said Real Foods CEO, Dean Kowarski.
The dining area features perspex screens to cordon off certain areas and tables are appropriately distanced from one another. Technology has been implemented to allow for contactless transactions – including self-order kiosks and a mobile app that uses QR codes.
Staff adhere to strict hygiene protocols, including consistently wearing masks and sanitising or washing hands regularly.
The space was designed to minimise the risk of spreading COVID-19 and features sanitisation stations, handwashing facilities and specially ventilated windows.
Kofi and Nü have outdoor ordering hatches so that customers can order without having to enter the store. There is also a separate entrance for delivery drivers, limiting the number of people in the store, while ensuring customers still have access to these brands when ordering from home.
At Nü, diners can expect the brand’s trademark healthy salads, juices and smoothies, while at Schoon patrons can enjoy baked bread and pastries.
Free Bird offers free-range chicken burgers and hand-cut fries that can be washed down with one of the beverages on offer at Kofi, which serves small-batch roasted African coffee, wine, beer and spirits.
