Today is effectively the final day to apply for 100,000 bonus points on the Chase Sapphire Reserve, since the offer expires tomorrow (Sunday) and you can only do it in a Chase branch to get the 100,000 points. However, many users are reporting that Chase is experiencing technical problems with its in-branch credit card system, preventing folks from submitting their applications on this crucial last day.
@ChaseSupport @thepointsguy in a branch to apply for sapphire reserve. Was told tech problem and advised to apply and call customer service
The good news is that at least in some cases, there is a straightforward workaround, though you may need to inform your Chase representative of it if they don’t already know. According to TPG reader Brandi, apparently Chase technical support is telling at least some of its branch agents to use the public online Chase Sapphire Reserve application link for submissions today, and then to immediately call Chase Card Services and have the application coded to the branch.
The online application only offers 50,000 bonus points, but Chase has told at least some branches that if the agent calls and has the application properly coded, it will honor the 100,000 bonus points. The one catch is that after you spend the $4,000 within 3 months, you may need to call Chase again to have the extra 50,000 bonus points properly credited to your account. But if your application has been properly noted by the branch at the time of application, the bonus should be honored.
Needless to say, this is not a great problem for Chase to be having with its system on the final day of a major promotion which has been incredibly successful to this point. If we receive further information on this situation, we’ll update this post — in the meantime, if you’re attempting to apply for the 100,000 Chase Sapphire Reserve bonus point offer in-branch today, please let us know your experience in the comments below.
