As we’ve told you about in the past, the Chase Ink Business Preferred Card has an annual fee that’s waived the first year if you apply in branch. However, that waiver isn’t available if you book online.
As of today, that’s no longer the case — the annual fee will no longer be waived either in branch or online. Now, regardless of where you apply for the card, you’ll pay the $95 annual fee for the first and all subsequent years you’re a cardholder.
However, while there is no longer a workaround for paying the annual fee the first year you’re a cardholder, the card still comes with an enticing offer. Currently, the card comes with a sign-up bonus of 80,000 points after you spend $5,000 in the first three months. The 80,000 points are worth $1,000 when used toward travel through the Chase travel portal, or they’re worth $1,680 based on TPG’s latest valuations.
With the card, you’ll earn 3x points on the first $150,000 spent in combined purchases on travel, shipping purchases, internet, cable and phone services, and on advertising purchases made with social media sites and search engines each account anniversary year. In addition, you’ll earn 1x points on all other purchases. There are no foreign transaction fees, and there’s a $95 annual fee — that, as of today, is no longer waived if you apply in a Chase branch.
