Table Mountain Cableway reopened on August 7 following a scheduled two-week annual closure for maintenance and upgrades, including the rebranding of the cable cars.
Changes include an exit and entrance switch at the top station, and newly resurfaced pathways. The Visitor Centre and Café have both been given a new look, having undergone a few changes.
Lifts at the Lower Station are still in the process of being upgraded and this work will continue until October 23. Only one lift will be operational during this time and visitors are encouraged to make use of the stairs to get to the departure area of the cable cars.
“Work done during the annual maintenance period ensures we meet the highest global cableway safety standards set by the Swiss Governing Body for Cableways,” says Cableway’s MD, Wahida Parker. “Delivering a world-class offering is something we constantly strive for, so during this year’s shutdown we took the opportunity to make some important changes that will further enhance the visitor experience.
“The changes we make are based on feedback from visitors, the invaluable suggestions or ideas put forward by our staff, and the constant measurement of ourselves against international best practices,” added Parker.
