This summer, Londoners will see the ultimate urban beach open in the heart of Brixton, the gateway to South London’s booming food scene.
Opening on May 26th and inspired by the vibrant culture of Cuba, Brixton Beach will transport guests to a lush and colourful paradise, serving up a winning combination of cocktails, street food and entertainment, creating the ultimate festival that lasts all summer long.
Created by the award-winning team behind South Pole Saloon, Big Apple Brixton and last year’s popular Brixton Beach Boulevard, the rooftop will be located in an area well-loved for embracing cultures and produce from all over the world.
Visitors will journey to a magnificent tropical fiesta on the beach and prepare to turn up the heat in Cuba.
The design has been created in collaboration with Zap Architects who blur the boundaries between art and architecture to create something truly bespoke.
The team have curated a series of individual events and experiences, involving immersive day and night parties, renowned DJ sets, summer film screenings, beach barbeques and daily exercise classes, whether you’re looking to get fit or fiesta the summer evenings away, the beach has something for all.
Guests will be greeted with the sights and scents of Hemingway’s adopted country of Cuba, with fresh mint hanging down from the bar’s roof in tendrils alongside swathes of exotic hanging foliage, perfect for drinkers to pick and garnish their own cocktails with.
The project will host a selection of resident food traders, from some of the UK’s best street food vendors including; Mac and Cheese experts, Mac to the Future, Brixton’s most loved Japanese soul food, Nanban, Del 74, straight-up, traditional Mexican tacos and STAKEhaus, offering high quality British steak.
The beach party promises an impressive line-up of performances each weekend, including live DJs, traditional Latin American brass bands and exciting cabaret performances.
Brixton Beach will launch an extended program of events this year, open every day throughout the summer.
Brixton Beach will be celebrating Cuba’s biggest and boldest holiday, Carnival de Cuba, with their Beach Carnival in July, hosting a weekend festival filled with colour, Cuban dancers and afro-Cuban drum music.

Since the launch of Brixton Rooftop in November 2015 the Space Bars team have hosted a number of innovative pop up events, providing South London with unique and entertaining experiences whilst creating a space that is welcoming for people to simply just have some food and drink.
