BON Hotels has acquired a four-star boutique hotel in Standerton, South Africa, to augment the group’s fast-growing portfolio.
Die Kliphuis Standerton by BON Hotels – as it will be called – is over 100 years old, and over that time, served as a maternity home, a boarding house for young ladies, an officers’ mess in the Anglo Boer War, and a parsonage.
The hotel offers a variety of room types accommodating over 60 guests. It has a restaurant, bar, gift shop, and conference facilities for up to 50 delegates. There are also three apartments and two two-bedroomed townhouses for long-stay guests.
Guy Stehlik, CEO and founder of BON Hotels, says, as part of its growth strategy, the group looked further afield to smaller cities and remote towns of SA that provide “fantastic and exciting opportunities”.
Further opportunities in the region are under negotiation in line with the group’s plans to build tourism circuits, linking important centres across the country to service the many commuters, and to make a positive contribution to tourism, to the hospitality industry, and to the economy.
