Belmond has agreed to acquire Cap Juluca on Anguilla from owners Charles and Linda Hickox.
The sale is expected to be completed by the end of the month, and the 96-suite resort on Maundays Bay will be renamed Belmond Cap Juluca.
Belmond (formerly known as Orient-Express Hotels) plans to do a property-wide renovation and expansion following the winter holiday season, which will include the addition of 25 beachfront villas or suites.
Additional refurbishments will include new interior furnishings, the introduction of culinary concepts that celebrate the local food culture, spa enhancements and new public areas.
The renovation and expansion is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
The 179-acre resort, known for its Greco-Moorish architecture with white-washed villas with courtyards, turrets and arches, features four restaurants and bars, a saltwater pool, tennis, a library and a private screening room.
Cap Juluca is Belmond’s third resort in the region, joining Belmond La Samanna on St. Martin and Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
