The third annual Serengeti Girls’ Run will be held from October 27 to November 1, in support of the empowerment of girls in adjacent rural areas.
The all-women event is held over five days in Singita Grumeti, a private concession in Tanzania, in partnership with the Grumeti Fund. The multi-stage event is suitable for runners of all levels, who, while covering 21km each day, will encounter an abundance of wildlife and beautiful scenery.
The women will be accompanied by scouts from the Grumeti Fund Anti-Poaching Unit, and a support team in a shadow vehicle. For the duration of the event, participants will be based at the luxury Singita Sabora Tented Camp.
The experience forms part of Singita’s collection of ‘Safaris with a Purpose’, and donations to the Grumeti Fund assist in running empowerment events for 5 000 high-school girls, including the provision of sanitary pads for one year, and scholarships for 80 local secondary school learners for vocational studies and university.
The all-inclusive five-night package costs US$4 500 per person or $3 500 per person sharing. This price covers accommodation, flights and a donation to the Grumeti Fund.
