Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan has topped the U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Airline Rewards Programs list for U.S. airlines.
“By rewarding points based on the number of miles flown rather than dollars spent, the airline makes it easy for budget-conscious travelers to earn free flights on its vast partner network,” the publication said.
Alaska’s Mileage Plan is the sole U.S. loyalty program that continues to reward points on a mile-by-mile basis. Mileage Plan also took the top U.S. News & World Report honor last year.
JetBlue TrueBlue finished in second place this year. The magazine cited JetBlue’s elite member perks such as free checked bags, priority boarding and expedited security among the reasons TrueBlue took second.
Rounding out the ranking was Southwest Rapid Rewards, Delta SkyMiles, Virgin America Elevate, United MileagePlus, American AAdvantage, HawaiianMiles, Frontier EarlyReturns and Free Spirit.
In assembling its ranking, U.S. News & World Report considers a reward program’s membership perks, the ease of earning and redeeming free flights, the airline’s network coverage and the airline’s quality rating.
