IT has long been assumed that all in-flight meals look unappetizing, and are dull, bland, and unhealthy.
Virgin employed the celebrity chef Luke Mangan to assist with food on the airline’s Australian arm while Singapore Airlines once hired Gordon Ramsay as a consultant.
No doubt the airlines’ efforts brought improvements, but unfortunately, the only passengers to benefit from the celebrity tie-ins are the ones in the premium classes.
So don’t even dream about sampling a meal of lobster tail, wild Iranian caviar, and glazed duck breast on Emirates as that is deserved for its first class passengers only.

This is because the food is prepared not in an airplane galley but in the aircraft catering at least 12 hours before.
As such, some travelers have resorted to making and packing their own bite-sized sandwiches, salads, wraps, nuts, and fruits. Which is just an extra thing to do before traveling.
