AfriCamps Botique Glamping will open two new camps in South Africa before the end of the year.
The company’s tenth camp, AfriCamps at Hoedspruit, will open on November 1, 40km from the Kruger National Park, in the Limpopo province. Its eleventh camp, AfriCamps at White Elephant, will open on December 16 in the Pongola Game Reserve, in the KwaZulu-Natal province.
AfriCamps at Hoedspruit will have 11 tents spread around a dam that is popular for catch-and-release fishing. Guests will also be able to go on guided game drives to the Kruger National Park with their camp host. The camp is also located near the Blyde River Canyon, providing access to the landscapes on the Panorama Route.
AfriCamps at White Elephant will see the company’s camping concept taken into a private game reserve for the first time. With White Elephant Safaris, who have been operating in the Pongola Game Reserve for around 20 years, guests at AfriCamps White Elephant will be able to take daily guided excursions through the reserve. Water-based safaris on Lake Jozini or the Pongola River are also available. Guests will also have the opportunity to track black rhino, and elephants, with specialised researchers, spot hippo and crocodile, or explore the reserve on game drives.
Both camps are self-catering, with fully-equipped kitchens, dining and lounge areas, two bedrooms that can sleep up to five guests, a bathroom, and a deck with ‘braai’ facilities. Electric blankets, an indoor fireplace, air conditioning, and outdoor, wood-fired hot tubs are available next to each tent. ‘Cook-your-own’ breakfast and ‘braai’ baskets can be pre-ordered.
