The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with global news network, Aljazeera, in an effort to market the country as a suitable tourism destination for the international market.
The news group’s English channel will broadcast and list facilities in Zimbabwe’s hospitality sector, to reach a global audience. Selected members of the ZTA will also embark on media training facilitated by Aljazeera.
“We are pleased to have signed this partnership with ZTA, which will further increase Aljazeera’s reach in Zimbabwe,” said Abdulla AlNajjar, Executive Director of the Global Brand Communications Division at Aljazeera Media Network.
This partnership comes at an ideal time, as Zimbabwe looks at intensifying branding and communications across various source markets in line with its Vision 2025: National Tourism Recovery and Growth Strategy.
CEO of the ZTA, Karikoga Kaseke, said the partnership would help to alter some negative perceptions that the world currently had about Zimbabwe. “Our partnership for promotion of Zimbabwe tourism with Aljazeera comes at a critical time when we are looking at regaining the lost market share in various source markets and communications is one of the key strategies the authority will employ to tell the positive story of destination Zimbabwe.”
Aljazeera is available in over 150 countries, with access to 380 million homes, and 1.6 million hotel rooms worldwide.
