You won’t find Malaysia’s first Sofitel property in the city center

SOFITEL unveiled its first property in Malaysia in the suburb of Damansara Heights, a busy commercial and residential area away from the city center.

“When we did market research about the area, we realized that it’s an upcoming area,” Luis Garcia, executive assistant manager for food and beverage at the hotel, told Travel Wire Asia.

In fact, the area was recently recognized by Lonely Planet as one of the “world’s coolest neighborhoods” and “one of the richest addresses in Kuala Lumpur”.

The 312-room property has a clear business leaning with plenty of meeting rooms including the Le Grand Ballroom that can accommodate up to 600 guests. The meeting rooms veer from the sterility of many five-star hotels across the city, and instead, features pops of color and art.

The Club Millesime executive lounge is a spacious center for premium guests to grab breakfast away from the rush at the all-day dining restaurant, fit in a game of pool, or hold informal business chats. Once again, it manages to steer clear of conventional business lounge designs by using style and warmth to promote lingering.

Sofitel’s trademark French-inspired aesthetic was peppered throughout the property in the form of abstract wall hangings, paintings inspired by Audrey Hepburn, and mantelpiece china.
