Celebrity Cruises and the Corning Museum of Glass are winding down their partnership, but the cruise line’s glass-blowing attraction will remain, plus it will be more participatory.
Passengers will be able to register for glass-blowing classes and make their own glass figures during the cruise under a partnership with Hollywood Hot Glass of Hollywood, Fla.
Celebrity said that starting this week on the Equinox, Hollywood Hot Glass will host a live glassblowing demonstration on the Lawn Club at the beginning of sailings. Following the live demo, Celebrity said guests will be able to register for the Hot Glass Class, available throughout their itinerary, where they’ll work with an instructor to create their own piece of art.
The new concept will roll out on the Eclipse on April 1 and the Solstice on June 15.
In each class, guests can choose from eight pieces — including a vase, starfish and heart — starting at $40 per piece.
Celebrity and Corning introduced glass-blowing shows in late 2008, when the Celebrity Eclipse entered service.
